Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found multiple other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis suggest the substance was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
A high-ranking representative stated the incident made him without words and had to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
